Training & Competency Development

Training that leaves capability behind, not certificates.

In-house QHSE and ISO training built around your own management system, your own documents and your own risks, so what people learn on the course is what they use the following Monday.

Our approach

Most QHSE training fails for a simple reason: it teaches the standard in the abstract. Delegates return to the workplace, find that nothing on the slides resembles their actual procedures, and revert to what they were doing before.

We build every course around your management system. The worked examples are your processes. The documents delegates practise on are your forms. The risks discussed are the ones on your register. That means the course requires preparation on our side, and it means the capability survives contact with the working week.

Attendance is not competence

ISO clause 7.2 requires you to determine necessary competence, ensure people are competent, and retain evidence of it. A signed attendance sheet does not do that, and auditors increasingly say so. Every course we run ends with an assessment, and you receive the assessment records as competence evidence.

Internal auditor training in detail

This is our most requested course, because clause 9.2 requires competent internal auditors and most organisations have none. Over two days delegates cover:

  • The standard, clause by clause: what each requirement means and what evidence satisfies it.
  • Audit principles from ISO 19011: independence, evidence-based approach, professional care.
  • Planning an audit programme based on risk and process importance.
  • Writing checklists that probe rather than tick.
  • Interview technique: open questions, following the evidence, handling defensive responses.
  • Trace testing: following a real case end to end instead of sampling folders.
  • Classifying findings: major, minor, observation, opportunity for improvement, and why the distinction matters.
  • Writing findings that state the requirement, the evidence and the gap, without editorialising.
  • Root cause analysis and evaluating whether a proposed corrective action will actually work.
  • A live practice audit on a real process in your business, with feedback.

Delegates leave with a completed practice audit, a working checklist set for your system, and an assessment record evidencing competence.

Questions clients ask first

Our in-house courses are delivered and certificated by Jumbat, not by an external awarding body. They are designed to satisfy the competence requirements of ISO clause 7.2 and to produce auditors who can actually audit, which is what your certification body will assess. If you specifically need an externally accredited qualification such as a CQI or IRCA certified Lead Auditor course, tell us and we will point you to the appropriate provider rather than sell you something else.

For internal auditor training we cap groups at around twelve, because the practice audit and feedback need time per delegate. Awareness briefings can run to much larger groups. Pricing is per course rather than per head, so filling the room costs you nothing extra.

Courses are delivered in English. For workforce awareness sessions where language is a barrier, we work with your supervisors to deliver bilingual toolbox-style briefings and provide materials in a form they can cascade. Tell us your workforce profile during scoping and we will plan around it.

Honestly, it depends on size. Below roughly thirty staff, genuine internal independence is difficult and outsourcing usually makes more sense. Above that, training your own auditors is more economical and builds real capability. Many clients do both: we run the first cycle and train alongside, then return annually for an independent check.
